Cincinnati Porcelain Veneers
If you are uncomfortable with your smile due to stained or misshapen teeth, gaps, or any other cosmetic defects, porcelain veneers from Dr. Shertok at Shertok Smiles may be the perfect solution for you. At our office in downtown Cincinnati, our team has years of experience with cosmetic dentistry, and we would love to be a part of your journey to a more confident smile.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are small, wafer-thin dental prosthetics, usually made of a porcelain ceramic material. They are designed to “cap” and surround your natural teeth, replacing the exterior chewing surface and covering up a wide variety of cosmetic imperfections. With just 4-6 veneers, you can transform your entire smile.
How Are Veneers Placed? What’s The Process Like?
After your initial consultation, the process of placing veneers usually takes two appointments at Shertok Smiles. During your first appointment, Dr. Shertok will clean your teeth, and prepare them for veneers by removing a thin layer of enamel. This enamel is equal in thickness to the veneer which will be placed, and it is removed to ensure a perfect fit.
After this, impressions and molds of your teeth will be taken, and you’ll be sent home with a set of temporary veneers. Dr. Shertok will work with an outside dental lab to create your veneers, and you’ll come in for your next appointment in about 2-3 weeks.
At this appointment, the fit and finish of your veneers will be checked. After this, your teeth are cleaned and prepared for the permanent placement of your veneers. Using dental cement, Dr. Shertok will attach your new veneers, and then buff and polish them. This completes the procedure and you’ll leave our office with a fresh, confident smile.
Do Dental Veneers Look Like Normal Teeth?
Yes! Modern porcelain veneers are completely indistinguishable from natural teeth. They look and feel completely natural, and to keep them in great shape, you simply have to brush and floss as you normally would.
How Long Do Veneers Last?
With proper care, a set of veneers can easily last 15 years or more. To ensure that your veneers last as long as possible, we recommend:
- Addressing any issues you have with teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism)
- Brushing at least twice a day and flossing once per day
- Seeing Dr. Shertok for regular 6-month oral exams and teeth cleanings
- Avoiding using your teeth as tools (to open bags, packaging, etc.)
- Avoiding the chewing of extremely hard or non-food objects (ice, pens and pencils, fingernails, etc.)
In the rare event that one of your veneers is damaged or falls off, just come to Shertok Smiles, and Dr. Shertok will replace it to ensure your smile stays bright and beautiful!
