Cincinnati Teeth Whitening

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “whitening” procedure.

What Are The Details Of Teeth Whitening?

It’s safe, quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to whiten your teeth. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much you show when you talk and smile.

In only a day or two your custom bleach splints will be ready for you to pick up. We provide you with a special bleaching agent that you put into the clear splints. With only a few hours of wear per day, our special bleaching agent bubbles stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way. When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We’ll want to take “after” photos at your next appointment.

Dental whitening can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in whitening technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of whitening treatments, teeth whitening is nearly always worth a solid try.

How Is Teeth Whitening Done?

Key Benefits of Teeth Whitening

  • Corrects brown, yellow and spotted tooth staining
  • Works on people of any age
  • Is a near-permanent solution for a “dull” smile, restoring brightness and brings a smile alive

An impression is taken to make a specialized “mouthguard” or “stent” to hold the bleach against the teeth. The material is used each night and at the end of this time, significant whitening will occur. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant. For confidence in appearance, bleaching technology allows us to promise improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or dental veneers may be more appropriate.

The KöR Whitening System For Optimal Results

At Shertok Smiles, we exclusively use KöR teeth whitening products to provide our patients with the best possible results. KöR has been one of the leading whitening systems for years, and their products provide consistently excellent results.

There are a few reasons that KöR whitening treatments are our preferred method of whitening at Shertok Smiles. KöR whitening trays are custom made for each patient, and they are designed to fit extremely closely to your teeth. The tight fit of these trays helps prevent saliva from leaking into the tray during treatment. Saliva dilutes the bleaching agent, which can negatively affect the results of your whitening treatment.

KöR at-home treatments are designed specifically to be worn overnight instead of just for 1-2 hours at a time. This maximizes the total exposure time of your teeth to the bleaching agent, which ensures optimal results.

For these three reasons, we exclusively use KöR products at our office. If you’re interested in learning more about teeth whitening with KöR, schedule a consultation with Dr. Shertok today!

Mild Staining – Take-Home Treatments With KöR Home

If your smile has mild stains from coffee, tea or wine, or due to tobacco use, KöR Home is a great option. The treatment consists of a take-home kit including custom-made whitening trays and a two-week supply of whitening treatment. You’ll wear KöR Home every night for about 2 weeks, then come back for a follow-up with Dr. Shertok to determine if further treatment is necessary.

Moderate Staining – Take-Home And In-Office Whitening with KöR Max

For patients with more serious tooth stains at Shertok Smiles, Dr. Shertok may prescribe the KöR Max program. This includes the same take-home kit as the KöR Home program, but also incorporates a two-hour in-office whitening treatment after the take-home treatment has been completed. This in-office treatment helps remove any remaining stains and provides a whitening boost.

Extreme Staining – With KöR Ultra/KöR Ultra-T

KöR Ultra utilizes a longer KöR Home treatment, as well as a pre-treatment conditioning appointment at Shertok Smiles and a final two-hour in-office whitening appointment. This is recommended for patients who have very severe stains. To find out if KöR Ultra or KöR Ultra-T is right for you, schedule an appointment with us today!

Considerations For Teeth Whitening

Over-the-counter bleaching agents are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies. However, since these products can cause harm to the gums and teeth, it’s better to use products that our practice recommends.
